Fired Up Fridays:  Red Sox Beat Yankees, Panthers Flop Against Steelers, and College Football is Back

Red Sox take game 1 in Yankees series

The Roman Empire has begun.  Roman Anthony crushed a two-run blast during the top of the 9th inning to seal the Red Sox win over New York 6-3.

Admittedly, I thought the game was over when New York scored in the fifth inning, but the bullpen hung in there, surprisingly, to get the Red Sox into the ninth with no additional runs. 

Chapman came in and pitched at the bottom of the ninth to close it for the Red Sox.

Game two in the series will be on Amazon tonight as Brayan Bello will be the starter for Boston.

Steelers beat Panthers

Give credit where credit is due.  The Panthers are very consistent.  Consistently bad.  

In fact, the last time the Carolina Panthers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, I was still in the Air Force, been married for two months, and Clinton was the president. 

That’s right, the only win against the Steelers was back in December 1996 and the Panthers haven’t won a game since.

The positive out of this pre-season fiasco is that nobody got hurt, thankfully.

Carolina will face Jacksonville in the season opener on September 7 on Fox. Will this be the year the Panthers finally have a winning record since 2018? 

Who knows??

College Football is finally here!

The wait is finally over!

I have both TVs setup, dusted off the football décor, and hung out my Florida Gator flag.  I’m ready and couldn’t be more excited.

Week 0 starts tomorrow with a bunch of games on the docket. Such as the Idaho State vs UNLV matchup and Fresno State vs Kansas game, for example.

The main attraction will be the Iowa State versus Kansas State game, which will be played in Dublin, Ireland.  It will also feature Gameday and Coach Corso’s last appearance on the show.

The rest of the college games will be on Thursday, August 28, with my Florida Gators playing on August 30 against LIU.

College football has returned!

College football is tomorrow! It’s Friday and it is time to get fired up!!
