Fired Up Fridays: Eagles Beat Cowboys in Season Opener and Week 2 College Football Picks

Eagles Defeat Cowboys in a Crazy Week 1 Matchup

Thursday night was the start of week one for the NFL and needless to say, it had a little bit of everything.

The Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys played in a hectic season opener to get things started for the 2025 NFL season.

Spitting on players, dropped footballs, and even a weather delay.

After the kickoff, Jalen Carter got disqualified for spitting on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.  Welcome to the new NFL where we can’t even get the first snap off before someone gets thrown out.  Insane.

Speaking of getting off to a rough start, poor CeeDee Lamb had four drop balls last night.  Four.  Not sure if he is just rusty or if it was week one jitters, but it was definitely a frustrating night for the Cowboys star receiver.

Eagles’ wide receiver Saquon Barkley, on the other hand, had a nice one-handed catch and stiff arm early in the fourth quarter.

And to make things even more interesting, the game was delayed late in the third quarter due to lightning in the area.

In the end, though, the game finally finished by 1am Friday morning with the Philadelphia Eagles defeating the Dallas Cowboys.

The NFL is back and what a crazy Thursday night opener!

Cowboys vs Eagles Highlights

College Football Week 2

My picks for week one did NOT go very well.  I went 6 for 15.

I got the Texas call wrong, which hurt, but also picking the Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Alabama games incorrectly didn’t help either.

I’m hoping the football gods will give me better luck tomorrow!

For week two, I’m definitely picking my Florida Gators over the South Florida Bulls.  Ole Miss should beat Kentucky and hopefully Virginia Tech can get their first win over Vanderbilt.

Tonight, though, there are a few matchups that I’ll be watching, particularly the James Madison vs Louisville game at 7pm (EST) on ESPN2.

I’ll then flip over to the East Washington and Boise State game on FS1 at 9pm (EST).

No skin in those games, but there is no better way to usher in the weekend than a little Friday night college football!
