Gators, Hookies Become Bowl Eligible; Gamecocks Shutout by Clemson.

The best thing about rivalry week is the abundance of really good games.  The bad thing about it, though, is yesterday was the last college football of the regular season.  Both the Florida Gators and Virginia Tech Hookies had their head football coaches fired; both teams beat their rivals yesterday.  Coincidence?  Who knows?  But both games, especially the Virginia Tech game, was full of action and it was great to see the teams pull together despite the distraction and uncertainty of the future.

For the Gators, we finally got to see plenty of Anthony Richardson.  After three interceptions by Emory Jones, interim Coach Greg Knox finally put in “AR-15”.  Senior Dameon Pierce ran for 62 yards and a touchdown.  Overall, a good appearance against the Florida State Seminoles and the best part about it is I get to see one more football game with my Gators as they become bowl eligible.

After the Florida game, we watched the Virginia Tech matchup with their rival the Virginia Cavaliers and eventually the Carolina, Clemson game.  Sadly, the last matchup of the night was the worst as I watched the Gamecocks, my team growing up, get dismantled by my brother’s team the Clemson Tigers.

It was a great way to end the college football season.  I just can’t believe it’s over so quick.

On to the championships and bowl games!
