Today marks the final day of SEC Media Days, which means the countdown to the 2026 college football season is officially on. We’re still 37 days away from kickoff, but the excitement surrounding the season is already building.
New Florida head coach Jon Sumrall met with the media to discuss the state of the Gators football program and answer questions about the road ahead.
One of the moments that stood out to me came at the beginning of the press conference when Coach Sumrall spoke about his appreciation for the Florida fan base. It’s clear he understands the passion and expectations that come with leading this program.
Another highlight came when he was asked how much energy he plans to bring to the team. His response perfectly captured the attitude I hope to see throughout the program. As Coach Sumrall said, “The only disability in life is a bad attitude.”
That mindset is exactly what the Florida Gators need as they begin a new chapter. After several seasons under Billy Napier that often felt stagnant, it’s refreshing to hear a coach who brings confidence, enthusiasm, and a positive outlook.
I’m looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish in 2026. Hopefully, this is the season the Gators return to being a competitive force in the SEC.
