Gators Beat Utes in Thrilling Upset

Hot wings. Check. Full beer fridge. Check.  Fired up uniform on. Check. Everything is prepped and ready for the 2022 inaugural college football season and the ushering in of the Billy Napier era with my Florida Gators.

As predicted in my prior post, I knew Florida would win this.  They had to.  Now that they are 1-0 with the inevitable rise in the rankings, more than likely a top 25 placement, Billy Napier, Anthony Richardson, and the rest of the Florida Gator football team are poised to make a comeback to Southeastern Conference dominance.

I’m not saying Florida is ready to go toe-to-toe with Georgia or Alabama, although I believe it would be close, but the Gators are setting up a good foundation to be a SEC power house and quite possibly a national contender considering the NCAA is expanding the playoff teams from 4 to 12 by the year 2023, hopefully.

The game was close, but the Florida Gators stood their ground against the Utes in the red zone with a Burney interception to seal the win.  Anthony Richardson threw for 168 yards and no interceptions.  He also had 104 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

The defense needs some work, however, as they gave up 445 total yards and three touchdowns.

Overall, it was a very positive win against a top ten team, but the Gators still have work to do.

Next up, the Florida Gators will face the Kentucky Wildcats at home in The Swamp.
