Fired Up Saturday: ODU Upsets the Hookies and the Gators Face the Utes in the Swamp

College football is finally here!

The season has just started and teams are already upsetting rivals.  Take the ODU versus Virginia Tech game, for example.

The Monarchs were the expected underdogs going into this game, but Old Dominion took advantage of the Hookies struggles, especially the four turnovers, and beat Virginia Tech for the second straight time.

The last matchup between these two rivals was in 2018 when ODU won 49-35.  The fans stormed the field then just as they did last night.

Needless to say, my daughter and I was in shock!

I know college football can be full of surprises, but we were not expected this.

As far as my Florida Gators are concerned, they start their season opener in the Swamp against the #7 Utah Utes.

Curious to see how freshman head coach Billy Napier does with a brand-new starting quarterback in Anthony Richardson and a slew of other new players for the University of Florida.

Anthony Richardson has seen only one career start, but filled in for Emory Jones last year on a few occasions.  This year, though, Richardson will be the main guy, so hopefully he will be just as electrifying as he has been in the past.

Iā€™m expecting the Gators to struggle at first, but in the end, I believe that Florida will end up with the first win of the 2022 college football season and giving coach Billy Napier his first victory in the Swamp!
