I was out last week taking care of some family business, but I am back in full swing this week for the fired-up post!
My Florida Gators are in a much-needed bye week to get ready for a mammoth game next week against No. 1 ranked Georgia and after a disappointing loss to LSU, I’m not even sure it matters. I’m hoping for an upset, but my gut tells me that a loss by just a touchdown is a win in my book.
Nevertheless, I’ll be watching the Syracuse vs Clemson game at noon on ABC. Both teams are undefeated, so it will be interesting to see how this game ends, but Clemson should end up victorious versus Syracuse.
After this game, I’ll be prepping the chili and securing garage beers in time for the No. 7 Ole Miss vs LSU game. The Rebels are really looking good this year, so this one should be a win for Lane Kiffin and company. With LSU’s poor tackling, they gave up a 51-yard bomb and an 81-yard run against Anthony Richardson last week versus the Gators, the Tigers may be in a lot of trouble against Mississippi’s very successful offense. Last week the Rebels had 448 rushing yards and three touchdowns against the Auburn Tigers last week. Not good if you’re an LSU fan.
For the evening matchup, I’ll be watching my old team the South Carolina Gamecocks play the Aggies of Texas A&M. Both teams had bye weeks last week, so they should be rested up and ready to go. Texas A&M have a lead in this series with eight wins. The Gamecocks will be looking to change that and the difference may be with special teams play as South Carolina leads the nation in blocked punts – five of them to be exact.
In any case, I think Coach Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks will earn a victory today at Williams-Brice and better their record to 5-2.
Lots of good games on this week and hockey has started, too, which I’ll be flipping back and forth with the Boston Bruins vs Minnesota Wild game at 1:00pm.
Plenty of action this Saturday, so let’s get fired up!
