Fired Up Fridays: SEC Media Days, MLB ALL-Star Break, and EA Sports College Football in Full Swing

Florida Gators Coach Billy Napier at SEC media days.

Dallas, Texas hosted SEC media days this week as teams from across the Southeastern Conference held press briefings and took questions in preparation for the 2024 college football season.

Florida Head Coach Billy Napier took to the podium on Wednesday, July 17 and talked about how the Florida Gators are focused on the process and that wins will follow as a result.

Heading into the season with a really tough schedule, though, the Florida Gator’s better start improving on the development of the program soon as following the process will only get you so far.

Last year, the Florida Gator football program went 5-7 overall and didn’t even make a bowl game, let alone a playoff spot. This year, that has to change. Coach Napier needs to be above .500 and make a bowl game, minimum. If not, the fans will definitely start to questions Coach Napier’s methods and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear chants of a coaching change.

The Florida opener is only 45 days away, so Coach Napier still has time to make final adjustments. With Miami up first and Texas A&M two weeks later, time is running out as the coaching staff needs to concentrate on winning and less time on building the process.

MLB All-Star break wraps up.

The 94th All-Star game was this week as was the Home Run Derby. The American League beat the National League 5-3, with Boston Red Sox’s own Kevin Duran getting a two run homer to seal the deal in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Los Angeles Dodgers Teoscar Hernandez won the 2024 T-Mobile Home Run Derby.

College Football 25 is under full swing!

EA Sports College Football 25 has been officially released for everybody now. Deluxe and MVP releases started last Monday, but the official date is today, Friday, July 19th.

It’s definitely taking a bit to get used to, but I am loving the game so far, with Dynasty being my favorite mode. Completing challenges is also helpful in knocking the rust off as well.

Needless to say, I will grinding this game for awhile until the college football officially starts during the last week in August!

Friday is finally here, so let’s get fired up!!
