Fired Up Fridays: Drake Maye Impressive Against the Eagles, and the NFL Preseason Week 2 is Here

Eagles vs Patriots

I hardly ever watch the New England Patriots.  Even though my wife is from Massachusetts, when it comes to football, we watch the Carolina Panthers and Florida Gators.  She gets Boston Red Sox and Bruins coverage, that’s the deal.

That said, I made an exception last night since Drake Maye is from UNC, my wife’s Alma Mater.

QB Drake Maye was drafted No. 3 overall in the NFL draft, so I was curious to see how he looked and quite honestly, he looked pretty dang good!

He played the second and third quarters in the matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.  Overall, QB Maye threw for 47 yards, rushed for 14 with a touchdown, and no interceptions.

CBS Sports reported Maye saying, “Had some good things and had some bad plays. Definitely a lot of things to learn from.  It was good to go out there and have some tape to learn from.”

The rookie quarterback did make some nice plays, but overall it wasn’t enough as the Philadelphia Eagles ended up winning 14-13.

NFL Week 2

The second NFL preseason slate starts on Saturday with a plethora of games.  Hopefully, I’ll get to watch the Carolina Panthers take on the NY Jets and more importantly, I hope they don’t get blown out like they did last year.

Sunday’s matchups include the Green Bay Packers vs the Denver Broncos and the Saints vs the 49ers to close out the week.

It’s Friday! Time to Get Fired Up …
