Fired Up Fridays:  As the Bruins Train Wreck Continues Will Boston Trade Marchand?

The Boston Bruins lost another heart breaker last night against the Carolina Hurricanes and the pressure on the Bruins organization is growing to do something, anything, to get this team back on track.

But are they willing to trade their Captain, Brad Marchand?

That’s what the team over at WEEI discussed this morning during their radio show.

According to The Athletic, there is speculation that in order to trade Marchand, the Bruins are seeking a first-round draft pick, a roster player, and a ‘A’ level prospect.

We will have to wait and see how this all plays out, but I don’t think trading Marchand is the answer.

Brad Marchand is still nursing an upper body injury he took from the Pittsburgh Pirates game on March 1, which the medical team still hasn’t released specifics on what the injury actually is.

Not to mention, Brad is getting up there in age.  He was the 71st draft pick back in 2006 and has been with the Bruins ever since.  His time as a hockey player is running out.

For what Boston is asking for, I’m not sure other organizations will bite on that offer for a banged-up hockey player.  Personally, I’d keep him, at least until his contract expires, which is soon.

With the trade deadline expiring today, I’m curious to see how this will all play out.  Boston has already made moves by trading forward Justin Brazeau to the Minnesota Wild for centers Marat Khusnutdinov, Jakub Lauko, and a 2026 sixth-round draft pick.

Today is going to get spicey!

Next up for the Boston Bruins is the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

It’s Friday! Time to Get Fired Up!!
