Fired Up Fridays: Red Sox Win on Opening Day and the Gators are in the Elite Eight

Abreu’s Two Homers Secure Win over Texas

The MLB season is officially underway!

Boston Red Sox opened their 2025 schedule with a win against the Texas Rangers and Abreu stole the show by hitting two homers during the matchup against Texas.  He hit one in the fifth inning and another three run blast to seal the win in the ninth inning.

Even the 22-year-old Kristian Campbell got a hit during his debut as a Boston Red Sox in the ninth inning before Abreu hit a homerun.

Bregman and Devers were surprisingly quiet as both stars went hitless.

The Red Sox play the Texas Rangers again tonight and will close out the four game series on Sunday before facing the Baltimore Orioles on Monday, March 31.

Florida Wins over Maryland

The Florida Gators made it into the Elite 8 last night as they defeated the Maryland Terrapins 87-71.

Florida looked good and pretty much dominated the whole game.  It seemed like UConn gave the Gators more trouble than the Terrapins did.  Regardless, though, a win is a win and I’ll take it.

Guard Will Richard led the Gators with 15 points, but the scores were fairly spread out amongst the team as Martin scored 14, Clayton Jr., and Haugh with 13.

Next up for Florida is the Texas Tech Raiders, which will be played on Saturday at 6:09pm on TBS.

If victorious, they will make it into the Final Four representing the west division vying for a National Championship.

Go Gators!

It’s Friday! Time to get fired up!!
