Fired Up Fridays:  Red Sox Fall to the Yankees and the Gators Face the Longhorns

Yankees Beat the Red Sox

Surprisingly, it wasn’t bad pitching that doomed the Red Sox, but abysmal defense that sealed their fate.

Not able to get a runner passed second base didn’t help either, but that’s exactly what happened during Game 3 in the Wild Card series against the New York Yankees.

The Red Sox put all of its chips on rookie pitcher Connelly Early, which at first was panning out.  However, the bet went bust in the fourth quarter as the Yankees scored 4 runs due to sloppy and unfortunate defense.

Red Sox short stop Trevor Story was the first domino to fall as he got smoked by a grounder hit by Amed Rosario.  Yankees up by one.

Then the second baseman got smoked and the final nail in the coffin came when Center fielder Ceddanne Rafaela missed a fly ball allowing New York to score 2 more.

That’s all the Yankees needed as their rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler threw lights out all the way into the 8th inning.

It was bad and a rough way to end the 2025 baseball season.

The Boston Red Sox head home to regroup and figure out what’s next and how to ready their team for next year, New York, however, head to Toronto to face the Blue Jays in the American League Divisional Series.

Thank God for football and hockey! At least the Boston Bruins won against the Washington Capitals.

College Football

Week 6 of college football starts this weekend and I can’t believe that a third of the season is already in the books.  It’s crazy how quick the season goes by.

Nevertheless, my Florida Gators play Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns on Saturday at the Swamp and I’m praying for win!

The Texas Longhorns will visit Gainesville for the first time since 1940, so it’s been a hot minute since these two have faced off.

Coach Billy Napier is still on the hot seat and if Florida losses this game, I’m curious to see what happens next.

I hope they fire him as his stint as the head ball coach is not working out.  In fact, Napier has been at Florida for 4 years and he hasn’t even cracked the top 10 most successful coach in Florida’s history.

We’ll see how it plays out, but it’s not looking good for the Florida Gators.

I’ll still pick them to win, though!

It’s Friday! Time to Get Fired Up!!
