Flashback: 79-Yard Run by QB Feleipe Franks Sparks the Gators

On October 14, 2017, with the game tightly contested and momentum hanging in the balance, Florida quarterback Feleipe Franks delivered one of the most electrifying plays of the afternoon. Early in the fourth quarter, Franks broke free on a quarterback scramble, weaving through the Texas A&M defense and racing 79 yards downfield. The explosive run flipped field position in an instant and put the Gators deep inside Aggie territory, energizing the Florida sideline and crowd alike.

A few plays later, Florida capitalized on the opportunity when Dre Massey powered into the end zone on a 6-yard touchdown run. The scoring drive, set up almost entirely by Franks’ spectacular scramble, gave the Gators their first lead of the second half. With the touchdown, Florida moved in front 17-10 early in the fourth quarter, putting pressure on Texas A&M as the game entered its decisive final minutes. Franks’ 79-yard run would stand as one of the key turning points of the contest, helping spark the Gators’ late-game surge.

Unfortunately, though, Texas A&M would eventually comeback and beat the Florida Gators 19-17.
