This is DJ Lagway’s Team Now
It was inevitable, but it definitely happened sooner than expected. Quarterback DJ Lagway is the official starting quarterback for the Florida Gators.
Sadly, Graham Mertz’s season came to an abrupt end as he tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during a non-contact play against the Tennessee Volunteers last Saturday.
As a result, DJ Lagway has been promoted and will receive the keys to the Florida Gators offense starting this Saturday against the Kentucky Wildcats.
Lagway has been pretty good thus far and definitely shows signs of greatness. Particularly, that last touchdown pass during the Tennessee game that put the Gators in OT with the Volunteers.
With all of the distractions gone and is officially the captain of the offense, I’m anxious to see what this kid is made of.
“I think there’s some excitement in terms of DJ and what he has been able to accomplish. I think he’ll be much better prepared. … He will benefit from taking all the first-team reps for the entire week,” Florida Head Coach Billy Napier said from an interview with CBS Sports.
Not having to worry about sharing time with the starting offense, Lagway should be able to settle down and be more effective against Kentucky. It also helps that the Gators are hosting Kentucky, so DJ will be able to have home field advantage.
I think the Gators will win this one 21-17. #GoGators

Nintendo (NES) is 39 Years-Old Today
Unbelievable to think, but the old school Nintendo (NES) System is 39 years-old today.
Released on this date, October 18, 1985, the Nintendo game system would usher in new era in video games. The infamous gaming system brought with it legendary titles such as Legend of Zelda, Blades of Steel, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, and Mario Brothers.
My brothers and I didn’t get one until a few years later, but when we did Contra, Ninja Gaiden, and Mario Brothers were the titles of choice.
Happy Birthday, Nintendo!
It's insane to think that Nintendo and Mario came out today 39 years ago (1985). Man I'm getting old. Crazy!#1980s #80s #80svideogames #Nintendo #NES pic.twitter.com/uI42kZthzo
