Fired Up Fridays:  Billy Napier is Staying in Florida, Bruins Win in OT, and Thanksgiving Finally Gets Respect

Coach Napier Stays in Florida, For Now

With another rocky season on Napier’s watch, the rumor mills were swirling that this was it for Coach Billy.  However, things have changed, apparently.

With a few decisive wins under his belt and a close game with Georgia – until DJ Lagway’s injury – it seems Coach Napier has earned his right to coach the Florida Gators into the 2025 season.

Per the Florida Gators Athletic Director Scott Stricklin:

“In these times of change across college athletics, we are dedicated to a disciplined, stable approach that is focused on long-term, sustained success for Gator athletes, recruits and fans.”

Not sure the reasoning for this quite honestly other than stability.  Jim McElwain coached for the same amount of time as Napier (three years) and with a better record (22-12 to Billy’s 15-18), yet the Gators let him go.

So, to keep things copacetic, the Florida Gators have settled to keep Coach Napier with the Gators.

We shall see.

Marchand Scores to Give the Bruins an OT Win

The Calgary Flames came to visit the Boston Bruins last night at the TD Garden for a Friday night showdown.

Bruins struck first, but then literally 19 seconds later, the Flames tied it right back up.

The game eventually went into overtime with a 3-3 score.

With twenty seconds left in OT, though, Marchand took a shot from his on rebound and scored for the Bruins win.

Boston will face the Ottawa Senators this Saturday.

Thanksgiving Finally Getting Some Respect

With Halloween 2024 officially in the books, everything (it seems) has shifted to Christmas.

But what about Thanksgiving?  Thanksgiving never gets respect.

Or does it?

Don’t know who made this video, but the man dressed as a turkey is definitely getting into the Thanksgiving spirit with his little dance!

Finally, Thanksgiving is getting some deserved love and recognition!

Friday is here! Time to get fired up!!
